Billy Coulthurst, Jimmy got jack, Tenko Presents
A dance of small creatures, at dawn in a small loose circle. They are celebrating a nostalgia ritual. The ritual consists in drinking small amounts of poison. They are addicted to looking but have forgotten how to. The poison helps purge the system and cures blindness. They make eye contact even though it’s difficult. Learning how to do so is an important part of their adolescence. They care about their hair and they have beautiful hair. In fact one of the reasons for existing is to have hair and to recognise its pleasure, the poison encourages it to grow and draw lines down their bodies.
The reaction to the poison shows who is weak and who is strong. They love the weak ones and their early deaths are celebrated. Their early deaths seem like art-works. They feel lost and wander around, questioning the reasons for their lives. They feel insecure and get angry with each other, they set up prisons. Imprisoned they fall still, at least they remember that they cannot see, they start to make images of the blindness itself. They are animals in the way that we wish to be, they love images simply and purely, we live in their prison and they live in ours. Beauty is a matter of size and order and the city enjoys and hates in a beautiful way.
